INFORMATION

Ken Zimmerman Photography

I've been living and practicing architectural photography, design and visualization in Southern California for more than 20 years. My work now focuses primarily on photography of the built environment through the exploration of various urban and rural projects. My interest in photography has strong roots in architectural education and creating compelling imagery.

Photographing the built environment is not only documenting the constructed form, but also capturing the creation of negative space. A good photograph should showcase the relationship between the building and its context, as well as the interplay of light, shadow, texture, people and natural elements. By doing so, it can convey the essence of the architecture and the projects intent.

My photography focuses on the compositions and lines that lead the audiences eye on a visual path thru the image, revealing a story of the  architecture.

"Light bends a path through the translucence of surface, diffracting upon its exit shattering and bifurcating into an ever expanding array of color, gloss, reflectivity, texture and diffusion. Form and space are revealed."
